About

We are proud to be located in the Old Thompsons Bakery which was once a culinary institution and part of Cork’s DNA since 1826. In fact, the iconic bakery was so popular that it produced a mile of its trademark swissroll every day (in the building’s dedicated swissroll factory) for the people of Munster.

We heard a rumour that back in the sixties, folk nicknamed the bakery “The Glass Curtain” due to its progressive style of glass walling architecture. Whether this is true or just simple hearsay - we loved it, made it ours and hope to keep its legacy alive by creating delicious food that makes people happy.

Our love of flavour and top-class ingredients is shared by the champion farmers, growers, butchers, cheesemakers, fishmongers, brewers and distillers of Cork (and beyond). Respect to them all – they inspired us in the creation of this menu. Their dedication to organic, nutritious, sustainable and seasonal produce has allowed us to create a menu that we are proud of.

With a little inspiration from our exotic travels, all of our food is cooked with grá and some kissed with a little flame. We look forward to lifting the curtain and welcoming you to our home.

À LA CARTE

Flavour is our holy grail. All of our menus are based closely on the seasons, working with the best of local suppliers. Our menu is designed to offer you lots of flavour, and choice. We recommend choosing a selection of dishes to share at the table with friends, but sometimes, things are just too good to share, so choose your own starter, main course & dessert to savour.

Tasting menu

The Glass Curtain tasting menu offers a taste of local, seasonal produce served over five courses. Sample dishes which have been cooked on an open fire and thoughtfully presented, offering a distinct taste of our Restaurant.

Group Dining - Sharing Menu

A feast to be had with friends, family or colleagues. The Glass Curtain is now offering a ‘Family Style’ sharing menu for parties of 7 or more people. You and your guests will be served a selection of seasonal snacks, starters, main courses & desserts to share, bringing together the joy of food and company over the dinner table.

This menu will change with the seasons and include dishes such as Heirloom tomato salad, beef tartar, whole roasted Monkfish tail, Dry aged Beef Cote du Beouf, Caramelised apple tarte tatin and much more.

We pour the same energy and ethos into our drinks as we do our food.

We source locally where possible (Hup Cork!), and celebrate the best flavours of the four seasons through our cocktail ingredients.

On our wine list, you can taste your way through our different styles and grape varieties from classic and current to rogue and refined.

The team is very happy to help you choose the most flavoursome drinks to suit your palate.
